This Illustration stems from the idea of a Crack Baby and his life in the crib. He's obviously very, very stoned, watching the pink elephant mobile twirling slowly overhead... Mommy's too wasted to wind the thing up agan.
I'm reminded of the   Mud Honey   song, She's Drinkin' For Two (couldn't find the song on youtube... found another good one though)
