Eugene taught me things my father couldn't. I dated one of his daughter Vicki for three years, and was able to listen to his council on many of the issues I would soon be facing as a university student, artist, illustrator, and man. Gene always had that pipe hanging out of his wry smiling mouth - glasses on the tip of his nose, ready to fall into his lap. He steered many kids in his own way, raising three talented adults, and influencing a boader circle of their friends. He passed away in the late 90s with complications from tobacco use and is buried near his home in Kingwood NJ... lesson learned. I had been a two pack of Marlboros per day smoker, then went cold turkey. haven smoked since 1992. I miss you Gene.
