My Sketchbooks - A Growing Pile
I carry a sketchbook everywhere I go. They fill up in about 6 months. I use them as resource material and idea mills, diaries, etc... I had taken this picture originally to show my students the importance of sketching and part of a bookbinding lesson I was giving. The majority of students in Shepherd University and Art Institute of Washington DC programs seemed to lack "hand skills", which I think is sad. The ability to make a prototype or limited edition run of something you've created is very valuable. I know it sounds old a crotchety, but in MY day…. “Yeah, yeah, yeah…. we hear yah.” I shouldn’t paint them all with one brush since there were some kids that are creating some fantastic work since graduating… Chelsea O’Brien, Jeremy Ziegler, and Jennifer Fabian to name a few… Google them, and hire them. They have my seal of approval!
I believe each of them carries a sketchbook!
