Painting on Location - Naturally occurring Lightning Strike Bonsai near Cedar Creek, Shenandoah County, VA
My French Easel was set up is early morning, second week of painting this scene. It started raining moments after this photo. oil painting on canvas has it's advantages - it doesn't run when wet. Cedar Creek is about 1K yards down the hill from this spot on Rt. 11, the boarder between Shenandoah and Frederick Counties in Virginia. I always try to keep my eyes opened for images like this tree. I had driven past it for months in the winter, then came Spring, everything changed. The area was so lush and the tree was so haggard by the lightning damage. Poetic.
