SU Today Magazine was getting a rework, and they wanted to use Illustration for their first time... I was chosen, due to my pestering of Kathy Keuhner in the publications office. I had almost sold her on a Cherubic dogBaby in the painting with a digital camera, but the Victorian-era opera lady works just fine. My daughter posed for me with her pink hoodie and Chuck Taylor's. This piece was the first of the year 2008, and I'm happy to have been the first in what I hope will be a long line of Illustrators and SU Today Magazine. My apologies to lovers of Norman Rockwell for my vinette, but Kathy wanted it on white and a brushy bleed, and this is method that works.
